Way cool last night, sure starting to feel like autumn. Lots of stars out, including an upside down Orion...
But we slept like kings, even after watching 3 hours of Kiwi detective shows last night.
Good news is... it's downhill all day today!! Even tho the coasting is cool enough to keep us bundled, it's a joy to coast, peddling once in awhile, and see the miles add up. Gary scores the last 27 meters from a cloth tape measure lying roadside (can measure a lot of things now...) and spends the next hour trying to conjure up fun things to do with. We reach Kawatiri Junction, the southern terminus of a now defunct rail line from Nelson, and the sand flies have us for lunch again and send us running.
Murchison, set in a broad farmland plain along the Buller River, is ours by 1:30p at 39 miles and we grab a local motel room.
Gary chef 'does' pasta with red sauce, broccoli, bread and butter and apple pie. Leftovers tonite means pasta for breaky!.
